Her hair shown like amber sparkling in the sunlight, her face upturned as if to try and catch the last few rays before it set. Her smile was serene and girlish despite being on the verge of her 18th birthday. She giggled in excitement, dancing with the fall leaves as the breeze playfully swirled them into the air before they gently floated down only to be flung back up again to follow some unheard melody. As she neared the end of the cobbled path, she sighed, looking up at the old cottage that had been her home since she was a young girl. She pushed open the large wooded gate that connected the iron laced fence that surrounded the place. As she closed the iron latch, she wondered as she often did why the fence was even necessary.
